Consecrate yourselves therefore, and be holy, for I am the LORD your God (Lev 20:7).
Brothers and sisters, God calls us to be holy. He has always required this of His people. To be holy means to be set aside and apart for Gods use; to belong completely to Him and to be separate from the world that rejects Him and from all of the activities and pursuits that the world is intoxicated with. He required holiness from the Children of Israel, and He requires holiness from the Church. Holiness is taught in the Old Testament, as well as the New Testament. To put it in simple language, holiness means to be different from the world, not shaped by the world, but rather conformed to the image of Christ.
The key to this is, “I am the LORD your God.” It is because we belong to God that we are different from the world. When a person does not belong to God, when they turn away and reject the things of God, then the world is their god and we can expect them to look like and love the world. But when the Lord is our God we are expected to be holy even as He is holy. We are made holy the moment we are born again and begin to follow the Lord Jesus Christ - Let us bring honor to that holy Name by being consecrated and holy. TOBY WILL
